Should I use a sealer on my floor tiles?
Sealers are designed to protect porous products and to provide wearable surfaces to porous products. Natural Stone Products are porous and should be sealed with a penetrating / impregnating sealer. Some stone products are also sealed with enhancing sealers to deepen and darken the stones natural colors.
What is used to remove grout haze from tiles?
Most grouts today are polymer modified, which means they have a latex in them. Use a latex grout film remover to clean the grout haze from the tile. Do not use muriatic acid.
What finishes do natural stone tiles come in?
Because each type of stone is different, the qualities of the stone itself will dictate which specific finishes are available. But overall, natural stones come in several finishes ranging from the rustic, with chiseled edges or tumbled, to the sophisticated and elegant ¬ honed or highly polished.
Can I use natural stone tiles in the shower?
Because of its neutral color range and sophisticated appearance, you can create classic, elegant bathrooms and showers with natural stone. Many natural stone tiles can be polished to a water-resistant high shine that makes them safe for use in showers. You can still use honed, or tumbled stone in wet areas as long as it is sealed properly.
Can I use natural stone outdoors?
Of course. Natural stone tiles are suitable for outdoor use, too. In temperate climates where the stone is not directly exposed to freezing water or snow, it can make for dramatic driveways, outdoor sitting areas, patios or pool areas. In climates where snow and freezing rain are common, you’ll have no trouble using most natural stones on three-season patios, or areas protected from harsh elements.

Is it difficult to replace a broken tile?
Something like this should be left to a professional. The grout around the broken tile is removed first, and then the broken tile is carefully removed using a hammer and chisel. (Don't forget to wear goggles). Scrape up all the hard mortar or adhesive. Then replace the tile and re grout.

I was wondering if you could tell me the advantages and disadvantages of sealing a paver patio. Our contractor said he does not think we should seal it, but if we do we should wait 6 months. I also read somewhere that we should wait 3-6 months to seal it. Should we seal it and if we do, should we wait the 6 months? Are there any disadvantages to sealing it?
There are several reasons you should seal your pavers. The most dramatic is for the aesthetic results. Acrylic sealers intensify the subtle colors and provide a glossy sheen to even the most haggard of paved surfaces. So, if you have an intricate design, or really want the pavers to be a noticeable part of your landscape, go for it!
Some of the functional reasons for sealing your pavers are: protection from stain penetration (usually dripping oil or hte occasional spilled pina colada), it helps prevent insect intrusion (ants, mostly), helps resist mildew, inhibits weed growth, helps prevent tire marking, helps to prevent efflorescence (common in concrete pavers in some areas), and for ease of maintenance (maybe even helps a little snow removal?).
A solvent-based sealer provides much deeper penetration than the water-based product. Acrylic, when dissolved into a solvent, it is able to penetrate much farther than when suspended in water. This deeper solvent penetration and higher acrylic solid content provides much longer protection from surface wear.
